What are the commonly used concrete fibers?

Concrete fiber is a material added to concrete to improve the performance of concrete. Common types of concrete fibers include:

    1. Steel fiber: This is one of the common types of concrete fibers. Steel fibers are made of high-strength steel and have excellent tensile strength and toughness. They can effectively improve the crack resistance, bending strength and impact resistance of concrete, and are particularly suitable for structures that bear heavy loads and impact loads.

    2. Polypropylene fiber: Polypropylene fiber is a synthetic fiber with good corrosion resistance and durability. They can be dispersed in concrete to form a three-dimensional mesh structure, which effectively prevents the expansion of concrete cracks. Polypropylene fiber can also improve the impermeability and frost resistance of concrete, and is suitable for hydraulic structures and concrete projects in cold areas.

    3. Glass fiber: Glass fiber is a fiber made of glass with the characteristics of light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance. Glass fiber concrete fiber can improve the tensile strength and bending strength of concrete, while also reducing the self-weight of concrete, and is suitable for some structures with high self-weight requirements.

    4. Carbon fiber: Carbon fiber is a high-performance fiber with extremely high tensile strength and modulus. Carbon fiber concrete fiber can significantly improve the tensile strength and flexural strength of concrete, while also reducing the shrinkage and creep of concrete. It is suitable for some structures with extremely high requirements for strength and durability, such as bridges, high-rise buildings, etc.

    5. Basalt fiber: Basalt fiber is a new type of inorganic fiber with excellent heat resistance, corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Basalt fiber concrete fiber can improve the high temperature stability and corrosion resistance of concrete, and is suitable for some concrete projects in high temperature and corrosive environments.

In addition to the above common types of concrete fibers, there are some other types of concrete fibers, such as aramid fiber, polyvinyl alcohol fiber, etc. Different types of concrete fibers have different performance characteristics. In practical applications, the appropriate type of concrete fiber should be selected according to specific engineering requirements.
